On March 29th, the MonsterVerse expanded a bit more, taking Godzilla’s roster to a whopping 38 movies. Out of these 38 movies, 33 are Japanese productions with Americans only contributing five to this list. Nevertheless, the franchise deserves a round of applause for staying consistent with work, adding more to the list without compromising the quality.
Although a canon series, Godzilla is pretty simple to get a hold of. Monsters, with hearts as big as their fists, fight for their supremacy. Sometimes, they tag along, simply because they don’t want to fight anymore. Jia and her adopted mother, Dr. Ilene Andrews are set to feature in the new movie. Both of them belong to the Iwi tribe, inhibiting the Skull Island.
In Godzilla: King of The Monsters, King Ghidorah successfully drowned the whole of Skull Island, killing almost every living creature on the Island, except Jia, Dr. Ilene, and Kong. Specifically for Kong, it was a brutal blow because not only did he become an orphan, but the drowned Island meant he had nowhere to go.
As mentioned, Jia and her adoptive mother are set to appear in the new movie. So, even if you haven’t watched the previous parts, now you know where they come from.

Long before the events when Skull Island got drowned or we came to know about the Hollow Earth, Godzilla, and Kong’s descendants fought a bloody war that took out many lives on both sides.
The reason?
Simply, to gain power and to annihilate the other. Apes, battered by their feral foes, ran for their lives and retreated to Skull Island. Here, we must understand that a few of them survived and continued to live on Skull Island, with the Iwi tribe. With time, Kong became a god for the Iwi tribe, protecting them against the atrocities of tribes living in the nearby areas.
Here, many fans believed that other apes, except Kong had died. To support this argument, they say that Skull Island’s drowning depicted the only ape, Kong to leave the island.
However, it may not be the case as The New Empire’s trailer shows the presence of Kong accompanied by fierce apes. Adding to our suspense, the existence of apes is a question that may be answered in the New Empire. Plus, if these apes are up for revenge, then Godzilla may be in really deep waters.
Kong and Godzilla’s Relationship:
It’s a fact that Godzilla and Kong have nearly obliterated each other in the past. However, to destroy their ultimate enemy, MechaGodzilla, they joined forces to take down the enemy. One may think that the bad blood between them ended right then, but that’s hardly the case.
Although they worked together, it was only because they couldn’t take on MechaGodzilla on their own. But their fragile relationship and urge to take down the other still exists. In Godzilla vs Kong: The New Era, we may get to see a revived feud among them, simply because this time, it’s Kong who has the upper hand. Kong’s assisted by a bunch of apes and knowing his personality, it’s the best time for him to settle the score. However, it’s only an assumption that we’re making, but if it’s true then, it’ll take MonsterVerse’s upcoming movies to a whole new level.
